With effect from today, Monday 1 April, the Lincolnshire Wheelchair Service will be provided by AJM Healthcare.
This follows a tender process run by the four Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Groups – South West, South, East and West – inviting organisations to tender to run the service, which AJM Healthcare successfully bid for.
AJM Healthcare has over 30 years’ experience creating locally tailored mobility solutions and will take over from Millbrook Healthcare, who have provided the wheelchair service in Lincolnshire for the past seven years
“It is our role to commission or buy services that are high quality, meet the needs of local people and use public money well, and so we go through a rigorous procurement process every time we introduce a new service or provider,” explains Dr Dave Baker, GP and Chair of NHS South West Lincolnshire.
“As part of the procurement process for the new wheelchair service we evaluated bids from a number of providers and we are confident that AJM Healthcare’s bid represents the best use of public money and provides the best service for service users across the county.”
The three-year contract will provide wheelchair users with clinical assessments, specialist seating, and delivery and repairs, supported by AJM Healthcare’s team based in Lincoln. Assessments will consider service users’ lifestyles, as well as their clinical needs and the team will coordinate with local healthcare professionals.
“AJM Healthcare’s team will work closely with local referrers into the wheelchair service, including healthcare professionals and other referrers, to ensure that people are supported appropriately. We think that AJM Healthcare’s innovative approach and commitment to putting service users at the heart of what they do will lead to a successful relationship and a great service for users,” adds Dr Baker.
